PatchWork

Truth & Innovation Grant 2024

PatchWork is a project focused on using art to bring together diverse communities. This series of community art making workshops will take place in West side neighborhoods in Cincinnati, Ohio.

This project creates an opportunity to collaborate with community organizations and bring art making to their spaces. During the individual workshops community members will be asked to create images of their favorite places, spaces, and people that evoke the uniqueness and vibrancy of the West side. This process of collages reflects the meaning for the project, to discover and create levels of connectedness and empathy as we layer together our experiences, histories, and perspectives. Through this art making there is hope for understanding and repair as we build together.

Workshops hope to be hosted in Westwood, Price Hill, Delhi Township, Sedamsville, Riverside, and Sayler Park neighborhoods. As of March this project has collaborated with Mount Saint Joseph University, Westwood Branch Library, and Santa Maria Community Services.

To complete the project everyone’s collages will be layered together to create a large scale collage with a tapestry like effect. The final display and community gathering will be hosted by the artists at a TBA West side location. The completed art work will also be displayed by ArtsWave in July(location TBA).

The high quality photos are taken and edited by the incredible Kailah Ware.
